Plans seem to be changing almost daily at the moment, which makes life extremely difficult and disjointed, but hopefully by the end of the month there will be some clarity as to what is happening and what is likely to happen in the coming months and years.
This month did get off to a cracking start though as I had the honour of naming a diesel electric locomotive after the wonderful pirate ship, Radio Caroline at Mangapps railway Museum in Essex… and what a great place it is too. The turnout was tremendous and I even had the honour of driving the train (under supervision of course) and spent hours talking both pirate radio and trains with friends old and new. You can read a news article here.
It has been a difficult few weeks, as my great friend and accountant Tom Dean passed away suddenly as did my great dentist Uchenna, who was well known for her appearances on Good Morning and other TV shows. She was the only dentist I have ever had that didn't scare the pants off me… Also, I sadly learned of the passing of ARW's great drummer Lou Molino's wife Mary.
Our gorgeous rescue dog Garo developed a brain tumour and we had to do the right thing and help him on his way to doggy heaven… Floods of tears as you can imagine. I am hoping that news improves for the rest of the year!
I am doing one day's filming with Gordon Giltrap at The Granary talking about the album we made together From Brush and Stone and how it evolved. Gonzo are now going to release it on vinyl which will be a bit special.
At the beginning of the month, I worked in Erik's studio producing templates for some of the music for the two Saving Strays Xmas concerts so that I can prepare choir parts for the choirs at Guildford and Ipswich. These two concerts will be very special and a lot of fun, and so if you can, please support us.
The rest of October will be made up of preparing music for the November and December concerts at Lytham St Annes and Hunstanton.
Well, that's it for now… enjoy the last throws of summer!
Cheers Rick
