Rick's Ramblings November 2024

Rick's Ramblings November 2024

Believe it or not, this is the second ramblings I've written for November and December as for whatever reason, known only to the cyber god, I can't find it on my ageing computer and so just before I head off to the final rehearsal for the tour, I'm doing it again and will probably add stuff I'd forgotten about anyway!

I had great fun a few days ago doing my annual Xmas radio show with Simon Mayo… nearly 30 years we've been doing it and I really look forward to the recording every year… transmission day on Greatest Hits Radio will be the 9th of December… well worth a listen if I say so myself!

Early November I was part of the Cornwall Masonic Charity event at Truro Cathedral which I thoroughly enjoyed and reunited with friends old and new dating right back to my panto days there. Truro is a fabulous city, and it brought back lots of fabulous memories of my time there in panto.

Most of the month so far has been concerned with preparation for the Yuletide tour with Adam and Mollie and rehearsals at the Granary have gone really well and today is the last day before we head off to Portsmouth for the opening night tomorrow.

It's quite a different show from my past Xmas concerts, mainly because I have Adam and Mollie with me, which means vocals and music that I normally would not be able to do. There will also be a fun element with The 12 Dogs of Xmas, which is, wait for it, audience participation. I did this at the Saving Strays concert in Ipswich last year and everybody said it should be part of any Xmas show I did... and so it is!!

My next actual day free is Xmas Day and then preparation begins for a very busy 2025… but before the New Year I will be sending my resolutions and forecast for the coming year… be interesting to see if I get anything right!

A couple of things to note… some of you may have noticed that I have been "tweeting" or "x-ing" a lot less recently and that is because I am really unhappy at the bombardment of both left wing and right wing views and statements from people that do not interest me one bit and actually considered stopping the twitter account but have decided to continue for the time being but my tweets will only be about the charities I love and music related information.

And to end on a positive note, there are still a few tickets left for the Saving Strays concert at St Mary's Church, Bocking in Essex… a guaranteed fun festive night in aid of a charity so dear to my heart.

Have a wonderful Xmas and thanks as always for your wonderful support.

Cheers Rick
