I have decided that the GORR will still be monthly and whilst still concentrating mainly on that particular month, will also be looking ahead to things happening later in the year. I have decided upon this as 2019 is already racing by which is a worry!!!.... but there are lots of plans afoot and lots of potential good things happening, but I’ll start with a little bit of a report on the end of January when I played at a church event organised by my great friend Simon Mayo.
The church he attends do marvellous work in helping homeless people in the area by providing shelter in the church at night plus food and assistance and it’s hugely successful and funded by the church who put on events to help with the costs and that’s how I got involved with Simon where we did an evening together where he “interviews” me, (I use the term loosely as it was more of a great chat, with me throwing in some piano pieces in-between stories.
Much credit has to go to Simon for organising the evening and I look forward to tuning in to listen to him in his new presenting role on Scala Radio.
Into February where it’s still a lot of work planning for later in the year and indeed next year. I have a few interviews to do for both radio and television and a few interesting meetings about pod-casts and similar on line possibilities.
On the 24th I will be going to Noisy Notes at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and if you have kids, please try and get along, they will love it....and so will you!
Plans are in place for a new collaboration with Sir Tim Rice and also Alfie Boe which all being well should come to fruition next year, which is not a long time away in terms of music preparation.
Looking ahead, we have added some more Piano Odyssey shows as we couldn’t fit these into last year’s touring schedule. At the moment the following are confirmed:
