Elgiva Theatre - Chesham 08 April 2000 by Ian McEwan

What a brilliant night's entertainment. Rick proved to the full house that he is still the best keyboard player in all the land. The music was stunning and his deliveries of the Catherine Suite and Merlin The Magician were highlights for me. The Yes suite, accented by a wonderful light show, was also marvellous to hear, and the Nursery Rhyme Concerto went down well with all!

The small Elgiva theatre was packed solid (capacity of around 300, I guess) and it seemed to be almost the perfect setting in which to see Rick perform, whilst telling very amusing stories which are worth the entrance fee alone! I won't spoil it for anybody yet to see Rick on tour, but if in doubt, check him out. You will not go away without being entertained by one of the best entertainers there is.

Rick came out to greet the fans that had waited in the bar at the end and was in no hurry to leave. He signed many items for everybody and was delighted to speak to everyone. I got involved in a fairly lengthy chat about the plight of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club and how they beat Manchester City twice last season, and he was surprisingly knowledgable about them. He also knew the area very well and talked to a number of people about Chesham and the surrounding Bucks country.

Thank you, Rick. A great evening.
